Today was all about removing the ancillary bits that were bolted to the chassis, in preparation to removing the body.
First to go was the box around the pedal box.
And then the two interior splash guards - the passenger side came off without a struggle...
... but the drivers' side was a bit of a pain as someone had put some GRP over four of the nut heads. Luckily (!) three of them just pulled out of the chassis (possibly a taste of things to come), but the fourth needed to be ripped through.
And then we did a bit more (aggressive) dismantling of the dashboard area, and also removed the steering wheel...
... which we reattached outside the body section should we need to turn the wheels at any stage.
We also removed some lower "protectors" that are used to hide some of the bolts that hold the body to the chassis - and then removed some of the bolts. The ones that didn't want to be removed were forced with extreme prejudice (i.e. with an angle grinder). The door hinges themselves were also removed.
Unfortunately, we still can't get the body to budge (even a little bit), so we'll need to do a bit more dismantling of the dashboard area, and also remove some of the rusted bolts that we know about on the back - oh, and also the door catch mechanisms which are fairly rusted inside the rear wheel arches (which will need the wheels removed to get them off).
